Tons of stress reduction, scouting, and a watch skill. Let's not forget his camping skills are fantastic. Grab some +stun and some +dodge and kick back to enjoy the fireworks. He still has his solid damage base, and now he is eaisly your best option for delaying in recovery phase. Need to take him into the Weald or Ruins? Grab Guard Dog and Lick Wounds or Guard Dog and Blackjack and stick him in rank 2. While at low resolve it's not as consistent as I would like, once you get past resolve 3 he can reliably heal 12-20 stress a turn for your party. He's the second-best stress healer in the game, second only to the jester, thanks the Cry Havoc. He's built for marking parties, but even if he's your only marker that -prot is extremely juicy, and hound's rush hits hard. (That said, I always recommend bringing Hound's Rush and Target whistle) He's stupidly flexible and fits in almost any party. Being able to guard a hero on death’s door can be a lifesaver if your healer can’t act for whatever reason, and Bellow is the best debuff in the game (want to make sure every enemy moves before your entire team next round? Bellow will destroy their SPD and make them easier to hit, which is pretty great) plus, the MaA has a stun and riposte if nothing else, and although he’s not the best at doing either, it’s nice to have both on a single character.
MaA is definitely not as strong as the Abomination, but he’s the only real tank in the game and although stress > hp in this game, there are moments where a MaA shines really well. And of course, if you include his CoM trinket he’s definitely the best single target stunner in the game, even beating out the plague doctor. (His HP and SPD are both fantastic and for a stunner that high SPD is essential.) And even without CoM he has some of the best class specific trinkets in the game (the padlock that increases stun and blight chance by 20% is fantastic and there’s another that increases his already high SPD by 3 and DMG by 10% for only a minor -10% max HP, which isn’t too big of a deal considering his HP is high anyway). Even if you solely use Abomination as a stun bot without his CoM trinket he’s still fairly good just because he has seriously good stats. Honestly I would rate MaA and Abomination higher.
